About Dione

Dione Orrom

Living in harmony and balance with nature has been central to my whole life. My childhood home was a jumble of humans, animals, plants, art, and music. We lived on the edge of an ancient Beech wood; two miles from the nearest village. There was Chocolate the donkey; Fireball the pony; Bertie the chicken (who lived in the kitchen when injured); Nibblet my pet rat; and Emma and Pepe the goats who would come for walks with us to the woods.

I loved following tracks and signs: catching a glimpse of the lives of wild creatures. Or finding treasured fossils and crystals in the flint rocks scattered on the woodland floor, hinting at an ancient oceanic past. It was a childhood that allowed me to listen to the stories of the world around me.

When I found my shamanic path in my late 20s, it confirmed to me how everything is interconnected and, if we listen, the voices of trees, clouds, rocks, and the earth are clear to be heard. They carry such wisdom and remind us that we are not alone and that everything is connected. It is this that led me to write. The voices of the trees called for me to write this story – their story, their call for action. It is a call for humans to come back to an original knowing and communication with the natural world.

When I’m not writing books, I am an Emmy award-winning producer specialising in music and arts-based films, working with many high-profile artists including Adele, U2, AC/DC, Pink, Cher, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones, Muse, and filming theatre shows for cinema such as Les Misérables, Phantom of The Opera, and Six the Musical.

I now live on the edge of Bath in Somerset, once again with an array of animals, growing vegetables, foraging wild food, and planting trees. When I can, I wander the hills and woods with my beloved dog Obi (who is a Jedi!) listening to the whispers of the world around me.
